  • Hem Bahadur Mugrati

    Founder

    Hem grew up in a farming village near Lukla, the major gateway into the Everest region. After spending his youth learning the trade of a assistant guide  and Guide and climber, he moved to the capital to study and seek his fortune. But he couldn’t ignore the call of the mountains where his heart remained. And so, after qualifying as a lawyer, he pursued his career doing what he loves best - sharing this unique region with people from around the world, whilst protecting its natural beauty and heritage.

    With 20+ years experience of mountain guiding, Hem founded The Asia Adventure Nepal Pvt. Ltd. in 2010. He still personally leads treks in the most challenging and remote regions of the Himalayas and trains every guide and porter himself, ensuring their quality and calibre meet his high standards.

    Traveld History: 2015 Belgium,France,Swetzerland,Germany,Norway,Sweden and Finland.

    2016 : Travel and Adventure Show in Long beach convention center  Los Angeles, California, Arezona,Verginia,Washington DC, Meriland and New York.

  • Yugen Mugrati

    Managing Director

    Yugen Mugrati, who’s family have been in the adventure tourism business for many years, was born in Kathmandu in 1996. Having completed his higher education at a private English medium school in Kathmandu, Yugen graduated with a Bachelors degree in Travel and Tourism in 2015.

    Throughout his school summer and winter holidays, Yugen assisted many group and individual climbing and trekking trips and has been actively working with 'The Asia Adventure' since graduating in 2015. Yugen is very passionate about continuing to work in the adventure field with his family.

  • Dil Bahadur Mugrati

    Senior Mountain Guide

    Dil is one of Hem’s most experienced guides and a reassuring presence for anyone trekking the more arduous, high altitude routes.  Quietly unassuming but with a sly sense of humour, Dill is a pleasure to be around. He enjoys guiding on all the tours and treks and is highly informed about our history and national heritage. Born and bred in the Everest region, Dill made a seamless transition from Porter to a Mountain guide in his younger days before choosing to move to Dubai for further work prospects. He returned to Kathmandu in 1996 to be with his family and has been guiding for The Asia Adventure company ever since.

     

  • Kim Levan

    Editing/Copy writer

    Kim travelled to Nepal in 2014 and immediately fell in love with its people, its vibrant culture and natural beauty. After getting to know Hem and his family, she offered to help re-design his website and found it easy to be inspired by the colourful street scenes, the stunning landscapes and the generous hospitality she received from everyone she met. Now back in the UK working as a Life Coach, Kim continues to do much of the copy writing for Hem, along with her partner Joel, and enjoys staying in touch with many of the friends she made in Nepal.


     

  • Ashis Rai

    Volunteer Manager

    Ashis has been coordinating our volunteer community projects since 2010. He enjoys the thrill of being able to support the rural, village folk people whilst giving foreign visitors the chance to help out, mix with the locals and get a true taste of traditional Nepalese life. Ashis has known Hem since he was a child, having grown up in the same mountainous region, and hopes to continue working in partnership for many years to come.

     

  • Achyut Malakar

    Senior Mountain Guide

    Achyut was born and raised in Thamel, the heart of the tourist centre in Kathmandu. On finishing school Achyut went to trekking guide school and has worked alongside Hem in the tourism business since 1998, taking groups on city tours and to the far flung reaches of the Himalayas. A very amiable character, Achyut is easy going and very accommodating to his guest. He enjoys being with all sorts of people and showing off his beautiful country.

  • Sagar

    Senior Mountain Guide

    Sagar  is from the sleepy red-brick town of Sankhu, in the green hills of the Kathmandu valley. He started work as a porter in 2004 and received his license as a fully fledged Mountain Guide four years later. He loves being in the great outdoors and can always be relied upon for his quiet, calm and dependable manner.


     

  • Chandan Jirel

    Senior Mountain Guide

    Chanden is a very experienced and enthusiastic Mountain Guide. Born close to the Mount Everest Trek starting point, he is often for his strength, determination and endless energy.  If you are trekking with Chanden, you will be safe in his hands and can rest assured knowing that you will receive all the motivation you need to reach the summit!


     

  • Tushar Pant

    Mountain Guide

    Tusar has been with us since 2012, receiving his training and license as a Mountain Guide at the same time as finishing school. He is now reading Travel, Tourism and Hotel Management at university and has an excellent grasp of the English language, having studied at a private, English medium school. Originally from the far west of Nepal, Tusar is now based in Kathmandu, and plans to continue guiding with us, broadening his experience, for the foreseeable future.

  • Naran (Norbu Sherpa)

    Leader for Climbing and Trekking.

    Naran is from the eastern part of the famous mountain region of Khumbhu, often better known as the Mt.Everest region.He is a veteran in this field and extremely knowledgeable about the mountains. As a result, he is often the one to lead the final accent to summits. He has travelled  extensively throughout the mountaineering and trekking zones of Nepal, these include Everest, Kyajo Ri, Mt. Cho-Oyo, Annapurna, and Langtang. He has directly assisted various nationals and groups from all parts of the world in realizing expeditions.
