Chisapani Helambu Trekking

Helambu trek is a great introduction to trekking in Nepal with a pleasant journey into the idyllic Sherpa populated region Northeast of Kathmandu. The traditional way of life and mountain views from the serene villages here combined with the freedom and hospitality of the Sherpa people will make this experience unforgettable. The Langtang Helambu trek is for people with less time and looking for a unique experience near the Kathmandu Valley. The route offers one of the best and most accessible trekking trails of Nepal, and without the crowds!

Highlights of the journey include a climb up the lush forests of Shivapuri National Park, Mulkharka at 400m above Sundarijal with magical views of the Kathmandu valley, Jhogin Dhanda pass at 2470m, Golphu Bhanjyang classical hill village, the large Sherpa village of Melamchi Ghyang and the largest village in Helambu Tarke Ghyang with great options for side trips.

The Langtang Helambu Trek begins with a short ride from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, a source of the Valleys water supply; the name means Beautiful Water. Sundarijal is a favorite picnic spot for city dwellers wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the metropolis for a while. We climb to the ridge top village of Chisapani with dramatic views of the mountains. The route travels deeper into the Helambu region with a wide diversity of scenery and landscape, mountain views and visits to monasteries. Eventually we make our way down through fertile hills to Melamchi Pul Bazaar and a scenic ride back to Kathmandu.
